Like most concerned businesses today, Shirtstream takes the environment seriously. We offer green dry cleaning services. We are always looking for ways to make our business greener, not only to benefit our customer and employee relationships, but as sound commercial practice.

So, to meet the exacting needs of the 21st Century, we acquired a new factory in Park Royal with the goal of creating the benchmark in energy and resource efficiency within our industry. All machinery and processes are computer controlled for maximum efficiency.

In order to encourage environmentally-friendly dry cleaning, we installed the most energy efficient dry cleaning machinery with low water usage and near zero emissions. The latest shirt finishing technology, marrying energy saving and operator safety. A steam generator with full steam recycling. An in-house designed water recycling system that stores heated water from drycleaning machinery cooling, re-used in our washing processes, which considerably reduces water consumption. Replaced two compressors with the most efficient on the market, almost halving our energy consumption for compressed air.

But the piece de resistance is a cooling plant that uses no cold water at all as it is run on a glycol sealed circuit. The cooling unit uses one tenth the energy usually needed to carry out it’s function. The energy savings achieved made us eligible for a Carbon Trust loan.

Shirtstream’s rolling programme of investment means that ‘environmentally friendly’ is not just a token catchphrase, but an important facet of sound business practice.
