Shirtstream boast six expert tailors for clothing alterations, repairs and tailoring service, across our shop locations. These are qualified craftsmen and seamstresses who are proud of their ability – and it shows!

Whether it’s a simple shortening of a hem or a pair of trousers, invisibly mending a tear, or a major adjustment to an haute couture item, the same dedication goes into the work.

And we don’t just ‘lob a bit off the bottom’. If, for example, you want the sleeves of a jacket shortened, we’ll start at the top, taking the extra material from the shoulder and adjusting the shoulder pads and lining, so that the original detail at the cuff of the sleeve remains.

This attention to detail is paramount in any clothing alterations, be it shortening or lengthening jackets, sleeves, trousers, skirts, dresses, adding or removing turnups, adjusting waist size or lapels, or even just moving buttons.

But our skills don’t end there. We offer custom tailoring service.

If you should want to replicate a much loved, but worn and faded garment, our tailors and seamstresses can make a perfect copy, down to the material, if it’s still available, whilst making slight adjustments to fit your current measurements if they have changed.

We offer bespoke tailoring service and can even tailor an original garment from your own design or a picture.

Whatever the task it is always beneficial to visit a shop to be measured up by the professionals. If, however, it is a simple alteration and you are confident that you have pinned the garment correctly or provided specific instructions, we are happy for you to leave it with us, or have it collected.
